A Message from Dean Lisa Huffman

Lisa Huffman received her PhD in the field of developmental psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and has a background in human development and systems theory. She has extensive experience in program development and academic policy creation, with a keen interest in innovation and entrepreneurialism. Her career has seen her creating student-first initiatives that center accessibility. As a college administrator, she strives to empower faculty and staff to address the intractable problems facing our communities.

Laura Dell joined the staff of College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services in 2008 as the Academic Director for the online Associate and Bachelor’s degrees in Early Childhood Education. Laura has worked as a distance learning consultant for school districts across Ohio and has presented on distance learning and technology integration topics at numerous state, national, and international education conferences. She holds a Masters in Educational Foundations from the University of Cincinnati and a certificate in distance education from Indiana University, and is an EdD in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Cincinnati. In her current position as Associate Dean of the College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services & IT, she works with all academic issues in the college for undergraduate and grduate students and oversees marketing, recruitment, instructional design and student advising and retention. She previously worked for CET, PBS in Cincinnati, as a producer of educational media. Educational design projects include curriculum guides, videos, museum exhibits, websites, and software designed for classroom use. Dell is also an experienced science educator who has worked at the Cincinnati Zoo, Orlando Science Center, Cincinnati Parks, and Cincinnati Museum Center. She has experience with children’s media and literature as the Exhibits & Programs Coordinator at the Public Library of Cincinnati & Hamilton Co. She has taught in the School of Education at UC since 2008 and has led both study abroad and honors courses. Her current research is focused on children’s experiences in and conceptions of nature.

Welcome to CECH! My name is Amanda Bachus. I have been at UC for almost 15 years. I began my career  in the Center for First Year Experience and Learning Communities where I worked on creating programming specifically targeted to helping first year students make the transition from high school to college. I also have extensive experience in undergraduate academic advising, serving a CECH advisor for over 12 years.  Since December, 2022 I have been working as the Associate Director for CECH's Program Accelerator, assisting faculy in program development and modification. 
I have undergraduate degrees in French and International Studies from Miami University and a Master's degree in Health Promotion & Education from UC. I enjoy being active with my friends, family and rescue dog. My professional interests include student leadership development, first year student development and financial literacy for college students.

She has worked in research (pre- and post-award), program evaluation, and data analytics for 10 years.  Currently, Clair oversees the Impact Accelerator – a research and grant development team dedicated to supporting and increasing external funding throughout the College and University.

Originally from Staten Island, NY, Alecia holds an A.A.S. in Business Administration and has 15 years of experience in the administrative field. As Executive Staff Assistant, she provides administrative support to both business and research staff at the UCCI, as well as a large team of UCCI fellow experts and contract trainers/coaches.
