Certificates and Endorsements
Overview
Our School of Education offers more than degree programs. We also provide a variety of certificates and endorsements that help you build new skills and strengthen your professional experience. These options are available to current students and to people who are not seeking a full degree. Each program is designed to help you better understand how to teach students with different needs.
Certificate vs. Certification
Certificate
A certificate shows that you completed a group of courses in a specific subject.
It proves you learned certain skills.
It helps you show employers your knowledge.
It usually does not lead to a license or official certification.
Certification
A certification shows that you passed a test or met certain requirements in a field.
It often requires experience.
It may give you a title after your name (such as J.D., Esq., or Ph.D.).
You usually need ongoing training to keep your certification active.
What is an Endorsement?
An endorsement gives teachers extra training in a specific area.
It can help you earn or expand your teaching license.
It allows you to teach different subjects, grade levels, or students with special needs, depending on your state’s rules.
